World renowned artist Janet Echelman has been captivating the public all over the world with her bold, bright and gravity- defying art projects. Her most ambitious project to date entitled “Skies Painted with Unnumbered Sparks”, commemorated the 30th Anniversary of the TED Conference, held here in Vancouver. The sculpture spanned 745 feet overtop the walkway, street and water. It also featured an interactive light display, which could be choreographed by the public in real time (www.unnumberedsparks.com).
The project was co-presented by the Burrard Arts Foundation, in collaboration with Google, Autodesk, and the City of Vancouver. BAF also assisted with the creation and promotion of a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, both as a means of public engagement as well as a true fundraising tool. BAF helped Janet raise over $30,000 through Kickstarter alone which was fueled by sales of our inaugural limited edition screen print campaign.
