Burrard Arts Foundation (BAF) is guided by a vision for Vancouver to grow and thrive with the creative sector at its core. It is our mission to nurture accessibility and engagement with creative practices, aspiring towards more culturally connected communities.
All of BAF’s projects and programming are designed to connect with the broadest possible cross-section of the Vancouver community, prioritizing low-barrier, inclusive modes of arts presentation, with a keen focus on subject matter that sparks conversations related to urbanism, social justice and cultural identity.
BAF’s gallery, exhibitions and programming are welcoming and accessible to all.
Our physical space at 258 East 1st Avenue in Vancouver consists of production and exhibition spaces, and is designed around a central pillar of BAF’s activities; supporting the work of emerging creative practitioners. In our on-site studios, we host six residencies per year (two each season), culminating in gallery exhibitions that showcase bodies of work produced during the artists’ time with us.
Public art is another important way we accomplish our mission; past projects have included murals, sculpture, and large-scale installations involving both traditional and new media.
Burrard Arts Foundation is a nonprofit organization and a registered Canadian charity. We are grateful to our primary benefactors the Chan Family Foundation and Burrard Properties.
Emerging Talent Committee
Comprised of members representing the local arts, non-profit and business communities, the Emerging Talent Committee is responsible for artist selection and governance of BAF’s Emerging Talent Program.
Donations help immensely in furthering our mission of promoting excellence in contemporary Canadian visual art. Your tax-deductible donation will assist in the establishment of exciting residencies, exhibitions and public art projects both at BAF Gallery and throughout Vancouver.
